Choose your own adventures and build the summer of your dreams at Camp Davern!
Camp Davern is an amazing traditional overnight summer camp experience for campers ages 7-16. We are dedicated to creating a community that is committed to diversity, creativity and personal growth. This is achieved through guided instructional picks, partnered with a vigorous focus on individualized programming electives. We are a non-denominational, co-ed summer camp offering sessions from 1-4 weeks in length.
As a community camp, the stuff we have is terrific, but at our core, it’s the friendships and connections that are developed at Davern that will resonate with your child. Camp Davern is a remarkable camp.
At Davern, we are proud of our site, impressed with our equipment and over the moon about our leadership. All these things combined, we ensure the camper experience is rich with integrity. There is always more to learn or something new to discover at Camp Davern.
Our management team works year round specifically on the development of programs, staffing and facility improvements to ensure we offer the best possible experience. Since making the best summer camp experiences is all we do, we think we do it very well.

Davern’s leadership programs are designed to teach young people what it takes to be a peer leader in an outdoor context. Campers can sign up for a given year, but the programs build upon one another with the aim of prodicing young people who are ready to mentor, teach and lead their peers and younger campers on adventures. In essence, Leadership Programs at Davern produce great counsellors armed with many traditional and transferable skills. Enrolment in each each program is limited, and exists on a first-come first-basis. Make sure you check the appropriate program enrolment box in the camp registration form. Currently, the following programs are offered at Camp Davern:
At Davern, we think the transition from grade 7 to 8 is a big one. As a result, we’ve developed the Leaders of Tomorrow program. Focusing on the leadership of decision making and discovering the benefits of positive leadership and role modelling, we work with tomorrow’s leaders to help shape their ethical compass. This two-week leadership program runs parallel to camper sessions. Adding onto the already terrific camper experience, LOT Candidates give up one of their elective periods to take part in 20 days of leadership sessions. In addition, the group participates in a three night camping trip emphasizing shared leadership principles.
The CIT program is a four-week adventure that focuses on the hard skills of the camp experience. Candidates work to achieve certification in swimming (Bronze Med and Cross),as well as training in canoeing, team building and outdoor living skills. Candidates also take part in some of the elective options available to all campers in addition to a wilderness canoe trip that is both challenging for the kids and memorable. The program strives to encourage each candidate to shine, building character, self esteem, patience and empathy.
The JVC program builds upon the CIT program as candidates work on the development of their softer skills of leadership success. Taking motivation from their “Leaders from Within”, the JVC program pairs 16 & 17 year old candidates with staff members and provides an opportunity to mix youth engagement with leadership training. In addition to leadership sessions daily, JVC will work towards achieving their Standard First Aid and level “C” CPR with Red Cross and highest Bronze levels with the Life Saving Society. These certifications will not only help them in the future but also support their applications to be future staff at Davern.
Session fee is subsidized for any resident of Ontario. All other Canadian applicants may be subject to a surcharge.
