Canoeing
One of this country’s founding skills, canoeing is the most important water sport offered at Camp Davern. Using the Ontario Recreational Canoe Association (ORCA) guidelines, campers learn the basic skills needed to be a successful paddler. Not only will knowing the difference between a J- and C-stroke impress your friends, it will also be key to successful canoe trips in the future.
Kayaking
For those interested in canoe’s double bladed cousin, kayaking offers the chance for each person to paddle their own craft. Campers will play games and explore the lake with our experienced instructors who will also help guide novice paddlers to success.
Stand-Up Paddle Board
A popular program, SUP seeks to develop balance and dexterity, while having fun. Kids team up, taking turns in balance competitions and synchronized movements. It’s also a great reason to go for a swim!
Swimming
When days are hot, when days are cool…with a crystal clear lake, campers will love coming to the lake to cool off. They’ll jump off the floating dock, play games, jump on the water trampoline, and maybe even swim laps.
Fishing
Fishing is a quiet pastime at Davern. We’ll invite interested campers to experience the lake at sunrise on camp and quiet mornings. This is a terrific was to start a busy day at summer camp.
Water Polo
Water Polo is a combination of swimming, wrestling, basketball, soccer and baseball. In all, it’s totally amazing! Requiring the three basic skills of swimming, treading and passing, teams of six campers attempt to score into a goal defended by a goalie.
Water Trampoline
A popular fixture at the camp waterfront, the water trampoline is a hot spot for both active play and quiet hangouts. Popular during free swim or cabin based program, the trampoline offers hours of fun.
